FABRICATED STEEL LOWER DOOR GUARD FOR THE OIL & NATURAL GAS INDUSTRY

At ABC Sheet Metal, we fabricate myriad parts and components for numerous customers in the oil and natural gas industry, so when one of them needed a steel lower door guard they gave us a call. With over 130 years of diverse experience and a 20,000 sq-ft manufacturing facility, our custom sheet metal fabrication expertise stands second to none. This 54″ wide, 18″ deep, and 71″ tall door flips down to act as an entry bridge. We used our Mitsubishi 3015LVplus-40CFX 4,000 watt laser and Flow I-6012 water jet cutters to rough out the components from A36 plate steel ⅜”, ¾”, and 1″ thick. After the steel underwent complex forming and bending, it was finally welded together using a gas metal arc MIG Welder, Flexcore wire, and custom fabricated weld fixtures. Our AWS certified (D1.1 Magnetic Particle Inspection) welding staff even turned to brazing for close fitting components that required a more cosmetic touch. The lower door guards were then sandblasted, painted, and a section of rubber traction material was added. The entire fabrication was done to tight tolerances of ±0.030″, all of which was confirmed by FaroArm CMM inspection of individual components and in-process inspections. Working from customer specifications and 2D CAD drawings, our ISO 9001:2008 certified firm conducted a medium production run of these door guards in only four weeks for domestic delivery.

We cut the components, bent them into complex shapes, welded them into final assemblies, and delivered them to an extremely pleased customer. We can do the same for you. Contact ABC Sheet Metal for further information.
